When I saw her at the door
Gathered she could not take it anymore
Tears rolled down my eyes
Watching her tear filled eyes
There she stood all shattered
Yes! For years she was battered
All bruised from inside
Yet poised and dignified
Refused to respond to abusive names
No more succumbing to conniving mind games
Absolute No! To ever present insolence
Most of that happened made no sense
She decided to take a respite
For she was getting only his spite
Decided to address the causes of pain
To say no more to the constant disdain
The least he could was to value the treasure
In deserving her seems he felt short of measure
Lack of concern and from reality he is withdrawn
Does not hesitate to use the child as the pawn
Astounding! To see the hatred within
The kind of phone calls he makes to threaten
Targeting kith and kin with words that he lashes
Claims he will turn all of them into ashes
Despite all this in her there is no hate
That speaks of the beauty of my soul mate
Bygone it is work of love, mistake or a draw of fate
To restore self esteem it is not too late
In fix she is! Knowing not what is ahead
Could only be better if watch where to tread
Important to have some amount of rage
To find solution and move on with courage
Find myself in pain but not despair
Will provide all the support to help repair
Standing beside, with care that I will never give up
Most of all for now I salute her for “STANDING UP”

ur poem reflects the pain of luving and taking everything and toleratng in name of love. At last the brink of all that abuses and pain has spilled and she has had courage to stand up. It is heartwrenching way u have described those feelings the try to sustain it and then taking the abuses and blame without a word standing on dignity im so touched..

downtoearth,
Good one. Only if every abused person had the guts to stand up and declare "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH', this cycle of abuse will stop. Yes, the best you can do is to be there to love and support them as they try to stand up.
